I am back again for the Blogging from A to Z April Challenge so have made the commitment to blog every day in April except the Sundays. Some bloggers choose a Theme, and others do random posts. For me, a theme works better, so the theme I’ve chosen for 2016 is Bendigo, a large provincial city in central Victoria, Australia. I live just outside Bendigo and have been in this area for only 9 years, so feel I still have ‘visitors eyes’.
X is for Xtras or more correctly eXtras. Whaat??? I hear you say. Well I’m sorry to say it, but eXtras is the best I can come up with. I have been dreading the letter X and searching frantically for an attraction starting with X in Bendigo, without luck.
So I have decided to go with eXtras. By the end of April I will have reported on 26 things around Bendigo that are worthwhile coming to this city to see. Of course there are many, many more events and things to see here. I have decided that they will be my eXtras.
In particular my eXtras are the many festivals that occur annually. E was for the Easter Fair, so enough said about that. There are many other festivals both small and large:
- Summer in the Parks
- Scots Day out
- Chinese New Year
- Sanguine Estate Music Festival
- Bendigo Writers Festival
- Groovin The Moo Music Festival
- Blues and Roots Festival
- Great Stupa Festival of Light
- Australian Sheep and Wool Show
- Vegecareian Festival
The above festivals are just a few. There also the many athletics festivals, sports carnivals and fun runs held regularly during the year. Bendigo is also home to a wide variety of markets, with at least one market open every weekend.
Come to Bendigo. And have fun. There is so much to see.
