Recently, I’ve been feeling a bit overwhelmed about my to-do list which seems to be getting longer and longer, and rarely seems to get anything ticked off as done.
A couple of weeks ago I came across blogger, Joanne’s post 101 things in 1001 days. Immediately, I knew that this was the challenge for me. Many of the things that I need to get done are urgent, but many more are ‘wants’ not ‘needs’ and don’t need a quick time frame.
This challenge is to come up with a list of 101 things to be done in 1001 days. I am starting this challenge today, so 1001 days from today is Tuesday June 22 2021. That sounds so far into the future that I don’t need to stress about it. But I know how quickly time can fly, so will need to plod away at that list constantly.
The criteria is that the list be specific and realistic and that the tasks require effort on my part to get them done. Some of the things on my list are very small items, some are larger but do-able, and some are just long term dreams. So this list gives me both a short term and long term focus. Who knows, those long term dreams could become reality. Where would we be if we couldn’t and didn’t dream?
I hope the tasks on my list make sense to you. There may be some in the genealogy section that only another genealogist would understand. Most of the items on the list may seem to be practical day-to-day items. Because I’ve been stressing lately about always being behind schedule, i have decided to mainly concentrate on the practical, with a few ‘fun’ items thrown in, just for fun.
I will come back often and tick off tasks as they are done, and post the results from time to time. I have copied number 101 on my list from Joanne as I would also love to inspire at least one other person to join me in this challenge. Joanne, you can tick off your number 101.

You are ambitious! Lots of practical stuff as well as dreaming stuff in your list. Will you be reporting on your progress?
Will definitely be doing progress updates Christine. Thanks for visiting
Ok I need to have a lie down and rest after reading your list! Sell your speedboat? Who knew you had one. I look forward to seeing the ticks and reading of the adventures surrounding them.
Hi Sue, the speedboat hasn’t had an outing for a few years so time for it to go.
What a wonderful list Jen and I will join you on your walking through the Scottish highlands. I’m a list girl from way back so this type of project really appeals to me. Thanks for sharing and I look forward to reading your thoughts as you work through your list. #MLSTL
There will be updates along the way Sue. Planning to check off s few things this weekend. Thanks again for visiting.
Intriguing, but sorry I’m not quite on board yet. I found it very interesting that you had items in buckets – walking, genealogy, garden, etc. I’m not even sure what my big bucket areas would be…maybe that’s what I need to consider first!
Coming up with your categories definitely helps with making the list Pat. thanks for visiting
Great post! Love your list – gave me inspiration for my list – that is being created slowly but surely. #MLSTL
Liiking forward to seeing your list Janet
Good morning. I completed a list – 101 Things in 1095 Days (3 years). Thanks for the inspiration. https://janetmarycobb.com/2018/10/06/101-things-in-1095-days-3-years/
I’m in awe that you completed your list. Will check it out on your blog. Thanks for letting me know and thanks for visiting
What a fantastic list Jennifer. I’m not sure I could go this! You have done a lot just in getting your list together and I must say it seems like a great way to prioritise your to do list. Go you!! I look forward to following your progress. #mlstl
Thanks Deb. I had fun putting the list together and deciding what to leave off
Oh Jen that list is amazing…l think you need to retire. Planning is always good especially when you start to tick off projects xxx
I think I agree with you Robyn. Retirement is starting to sound inviting
I’m constantly impressed with people who can come up with lists like this Jennifer – yours is do-able too and I bet you’re going to enjoy ticking off the different points as you work your way through your list. I love that you have different categories too so that you don’t get bored with it at any stage. #MLSTL and I’ve shared on my SM 🙂
Thanks Leanne for sharing. I plan to enjoy the project
Wow. What a list. I guess “I’m bored” is not something you will ever say. Lol.
I like cycle the otago trail that would be cool. Im cruising to New Zealand next Feb.
Thanks Victoria. I find getting all the tasks in writing takes the stress away
Never a dull moment here Carmel. 😂 I’m sure you will enjoy the cruise. I did a NZ Cruise a few years ago and lived it
Just reading your list is overwhelming for me. Wow, you have some nice goals and good luck on your journey to complete your list.
I LOVE this idea! While I find it intimidating to think of 101 things (!) I like how you categorized your tasks. I will pin this for future reference and perhaps start my own list of 101 in 1001 🙂
Please let me know if you decide to make s list Molly. Thanks for your interest
WOW! That’s quite a list. Good luck!
Thanks Dee. Looks daunting but broken up over 101 days, makes it doable. Thanks for visiting.
