24 Hour Gym

April 16, 2014 By nextphaseinfitness 2 Comments

Fernwood

This week my gym, Fernwood Fitness, Bendigo, started opening 24/7. I just can’t tell you how excited I felt on hearing this news. Over the past few years, due to early morning start times at work, I’ve had to cut my morning workouts short, and often had to skip them completely. For years, I’ve started my day early at the gym and this is what makes me feel happy. It gives me a feeling of control and structure that I crave.

Since I bought the cafe, I’ve been starting at 7, and have found it necessary to start exercising at 4.30am and earlier, to fit in all that I want and need to do. With the Camino Pilgrimage looming, I’ve been walking on week days for at least 2 hours before work.

Here’s my new training program, now that I can go to gym at any time that I want. This program will continue on until the week before the Camino. In the final week I plan to do very little, just light weights and stretching, in readiness for the arduous 6 weeks that will be ahead. Also, from now on, I will be easing back on the walking a little and adding in more strength training. I feel that I’m all walked out at the moment, and need to freshen things up a bit.

MONDAY
4.30am: Gym – Cardio 6pm: PT weights session with Angela,

TUESDAY
4.30am: Gym – Cardio 5pm: 2 hour Walk

WEDNESDAY
4.30am: Gym – Weights followed by 10k+ Walk

THURSDAY
4.30am: Gym – Cardio 3pm: PT Boxing session with Angela

FRIDAY
4.30am: Gym – Weights

SATURDAY
4.30am: Gym – Cardio

That’s about it. Feeling very excited that the 24 hour opening enables me to get my routine back.
