Coastrek Week 5 Training program
1 x 17km walk
1 x Interval Training (30 mins) Pick from stairs, hills, bike, soft sand or high intensity interval training in a gym
1 x Trek Training (2-3hrs with a 3-8kg pack, see workout of the week)
2 x Relaxation & Injury prevention: Stretch, yoga, swimming
Last week’s plan to replace the interval training sessions with cycling has been an epic fail. On Sunday, I did ligament damage to my knee when riding. Regular readers will know of my ‘dodgy knees’ which can usually be managed. Because of this injury, which I don’t think is too serious, I need to totally rest from walking for a few days. There will definitely be no more cycling until after Coastrek!
But the gym sessions are still manageable as long as I stick with upper body, and give the legs a rest.
I’m hoping to be ok for our team training walk on Sunday. And then next week to get back to the regular Coastrek training sessions.
