I am back again for the Blogging from A to Z April Challenge so have made the commitment to blog every day in April except the Sundays. Some bloggers choose a Theme, and others do random posts. For me, a theme works better, so the theme I’ve chosen for 2016 is Bendigo, a large provincial city in central Victoria, Australia. I live just outside Bendigo and have been in this area for only 9 years, so feel I still have ‘visitors eyes’.
I is for Information Centre. The Bendigo Information Centre is situated in the centre of town, in the old Post Office, which was opened in 1887. Architecturally, it is a beautiful building and still looks as good as new.
When visiting Bendigo, the Information Centre is the best place to start. The friendly and helpful volunteers, can help you with information about the many attractions and any special events which will be on during your stay.
Services offered at the information centre are:
- booking service for accommodation and events
- maps and guide books
- information and requirements for self guided tours
- collection of books relating to the local area
- local products and crafts available for sale
The Information Centre also runs a small art space called Uniquely Bendigo, which supports local artists and designers and is an outlet for their products, giving visitors an opportunity to purchase a high quality souvenir or gift.
The Post Office Gallery also uses space in the old Post Office. It is a small space, with regular exhibitions related to history. They are always a little bit different, and very interesting. The current exhibition is Eclectic Treasures: Bendigo’s private collections
The Bendigo Information Centre, in my opinion, is a destination in itself. Even though I’m a resident, and not a visitor, I love to spend time in there.

I didn’t realise you were doing two AtoZ blogging challenges – phew!
I love the Post Office building in Bendigo and I am pleased to see it is being used still in such a way that brings lots of people into the building.
We visit Bendigo often – particularly to go to the gallery.
Regards
Anne

Nothing like a challenge Anne! And time wise it has been a bit tricky. Would love to catch up when you’re in town. Let me know
