As I set off for a short bushwalk last week, I realised how fortunate I am to live so close to a National Park. Just step outside our front gate and you are in the Bendigo National Park. It’s an area that I love, with it’s walking trails, both hilly and rocky. I haven’t walked there since late last year, due to the rockiness and my foot injury. I have been walking most days, but on the made footpaths in town, so as not to aggravate the injury. The rocky trails did aggravate it and cause pain, so I’ve been giving them a miss.
All was well with this 8k walk. There were no foot aches or pains or after affects, so I’m considering the foot injury is now healed and look forward to quickly increasing my walking distances from now on. I take my two year old toy poodle, Oscar, with me most days. He also loves to get out there on the bush trails. He specially loves it when off the lead which is not possible during summer due to the snakes in the area. Now we are in late autumn, heading in the winter, he is getting the opportunity to enjoy the trails again.
Here are just a few photos from what I consider to be my backyard. The photos show how dry it is here. There’s almost no green to be seen at all. If you look very hard, you may see a slight tinge of green, that has started to appear after recent rain. This rain was long awaited and almost celebrated.
