I’ve started boxing again, and am loving it. I’d forgotten how great it makes me feel. As any regular reader would know, the past year as been rudely interrupted a few times by injury. The broken arm, almost a year ago now, brought regular boxing sessions to a halt.
It’s only in the past few weeks, that my arm has felt strong enough to hit the bag again. Now that I have my home gym, I don’t go to classes anymore, but have a boxing bag in the gym so can punch away at my own pace and to routines of my choice. How fast and hard I punch the bag, tends to depend on what’s happening in my life at the time.
I’ve been using the routine in the video below to get started again. It’s a good work out and not at all complicated. I really detest fancy moves. I’d much prefer hard, fast and simple.
Here’s a routine that I’ve also been using based on the above video, with a few variations and cardio added in. Done non-stop with intensity it’s a great workout.
10 jabs and 10 crosses – 3 sets
Spin bike fast
20 jab crosses and 20 step-ups – 3 sets
