We had our first Melbourne Coastrek team training session last Saturday morning for our team “No Bounce Here”. We were all feeling excited to kick off our training and team bonding sessions at last, as we met at the park in Axedale at 7am. The plan was to walk a circuit of 12k, which was the longest walk on the training plan for week 1. We were wearing our weighted backpacks. They are compulsory for Coastrek so we need to train with them on regularly.
There are four in our team and we seem to have a similar level of fitness. There was lots of chatter and laughter as we paced along the O’Keefe Rail Trail. Before we knew it we were back where we started and according to my gps we had walked 13.22k. Win!
Just as a reminder, Coastrek Melbourne, is a fundraiser for the Fred Hollows foundation.
From the website: “We see a world in which no person is needlessly blind and Indigenous Australians exercise their right to good health”
If anyone would like to donate to our team just go to my page here with all donations being tax deductible in Australia. Thank you very very much in advance. Any donations are much appreciated by me and by the Fred Hollows Foundation
