There was much excitement today amongst pilgrims, striding towards Santiago, about the Compostela.
This is the certificate of completion of the Camino de Santiago.
Here are my certificates that I collected on arrival at Santiago today. I did get a kick out of seeing my name in Latin.
I couldn’t really get excited about the Compostela, as it really doesn’t take much to get one. A pilgrim only has to walk the last 100k to obtain their Compostela. There is no distinction at all between pilgrims who walk 100k and pilgrims who walk the entire distance. There are also those who complete some or most sections by bus. They also receive their Compostela as long as their Pilgrim Passport has been stamped along the way.
I really place more importance on my Pilgrim Passport which would be stamped at the Albergue every day when we arrived. Of course there are pilgrims who travel by bus and stay in Albergies to get their stamp.
I know my pilgrims passport is an accurate representation of the kilometres walked and I’m very proud of it.
