We set off for a 25.8k stage which turned out to be closer to 30k, when we inadvertently took an alternative route into another village. Didn’t matter as we’re here to see as much as we can.
Today’s walk was fairly flat and passing through a few small villages where we took short breaks.
Many wildflowers were growing along today’s pathway. It was incredibly beautiful.
From about 15k to go, the kilometres were counted down for us, which was a nice change. Usually we have no idea at all how far we have walked.
Tonight in the quite pretty village of Carrion de los Condes, we are staying on a monastery. Conditions are very good and very clean, but it’s just a little bit creepy.
Here is what my guide says about this village: “a fortified town that has witnessed countless battles, conquests, re-conquests, shameful violations, betrayals and revenge killings” – John Brierley
