Day 5 Puenta La Reina – Estella

June 6, 2014 By nextphaseinfitness Leave a Comment

A steepish climb greeted us to start the day, followed once again by a steep descent over loose rocks. I expected all the descents to play havoc with my weak knees. But surprisingly, they feel as though they are getting stronger.
Before starting this adventure, I did think that I may not have done enough training. But I’m very pleased that so far, it seems my training may have been exactly right.
So far, I have had no aches or pains, sore feet, blisters or hotspots. And I seem to be making good time on each stage. But it’s early days yet, and anything could happen. Not getting too pleased with myself just yet.
Most days we arrive at our destination, in the early afternoon. Usually the town is very quiet due to siesta. By the time we check in to our albergue, shower & do our washing, it’s usually about the time that the town re-opens.
