Today is Day 1 of Sue’s 7 Day Eat Healthy for Life challenge at her blog Sizzling Towards Sixty. This program is just a short reboot to kick off healthy eating habits for life. Most importantly, this is not a diet. Rather, it is a short one week plan to kick start healthy habits for life.
I was very keen to check in with Sue, early in the day, as I was very interested to see her plans for the week. Firstly, there was a video recorded by Sue with great advice for planning and preparing to set ourselves up for success.
The focus for today is:
- Planning and preparation
- Keeping a food doary
- Doing a pantry audit
- Understanding food labels and portion sizes.
I’ve done my planning and preparation for the week. The main feature of my meal plan is green veggies. I’m craving them at the moment. This would be because my diet has been fairly unhealthy since Easter and my body is screaming at me that enough is enough.
I don’t plan to make drastic cuts to calories or food groups as I’m more interested in creating good habits for life. I’m not at all interested in crash dieting. Over my life time, I’ve done many crash diets, and I can tell you that they most definitely do not work.
Poached Coconut Chicken with Brown Rice
I came across this recipe on Pinterest. I’m keen to try it, so have included it on the menu for this week. Because I’m committed to keeping to the copyright laws, I haven’t included the recipe here but there is a link below to The Purple Ladle blog where you will find the full recipe.
