Tomorrow Jan 31 is my birthday I will be turning 65, which really amazes me. Where have the years gone? I have no idea! I find it a bit difficult to get my head around the fact that I’ve now hit retirement age. But I do intend to keep working and to keep exercising for many more years to come. My grandmother worked until age 70, and I’d really feel honoured to walk in her footsteps. Fingers crossed there are no health problems looming to spoil my plans. I don’t expect there to be.
To celebrate my birthday and turning 65, I am today launching my new blog Best Bookish Blog
I’m very excited about this, as I love reading, and also love writing and reading book reviews. But it’s my opinion that book reviews don’t really fit with the main focus of this blog. Over the years, I’ve been happy to include the odd review, but I would really like to do more to showcase my passion of reading. I also enjoy keeping up with bookish events, festivals and bookish news. For these reasons, I feel that creating a bookish blog is a great idea for me at this time. It just feels right.
Best Bookish Blog is not meant as a replacement for this blog. Next Phase in Fitness will definitely continue, and hopefully keep evolving as my life evolves. Best Bookish Blog is an addition, and one that I hope will interest my readers enough, to follow and read my reviews and other bookish posts.
My hope is that Best Bookish Blog will be a place for readers to immerse themselves in book reviews and all things bookish. I will be reading all books that are reviewed, and all reviews will be my own work. I usually read about 100 books per year and plan to cover all genres. There will be less sci-fi and fantasy, as they are not my preferred genres. For the sake of variety and being inclusive though, I do plan to add these to my reading list. Reviews will be of the latest releases as well as those published in the past, both recent and distant.
I would love you to pop in to Best Bookish Blog and have a look around. I particularly would love it if you could leave me a comment. Of course, I will reply to all comments left. If you think you would be interested to read my book reviews please enter your email address in the sidebar on the blog, to receive a notification when a new review is published.
Best Bookish Blog can also be found at Facebook and Instagram and Goodreads If you have time, I’d love you to be my first likers and followers.
Do you enjoy reading? What is your preferred genre? I love it when you join in the conversation and promise to reply to all comments
Happy birthday on January 31st, Jennifer! Congrats on your new Best Bookish Blog. You’re surely an avid reader. I enjoy reading and prefer thriller, mystery, and comedy genres atm. I read about 3 to 4 books per month, average 350-400 pages per book. #MLSTL
Hi Natalie Three to four books a month definitely qualifies you as an avid reader. Hope you can find some inspiration from the blog. Thanks for the birthday wishes
Happy birthday and congratulations on the new blog. I love to read too, and love to read book reviews. I will tweet out the new blog!
Thanks for visiting Michell and for sharing. Hopefully you can find some reading inspiration on the new blog
How exciting to start a new blog dedicated to book reviews. I ended up just creating a new page in my menu, but I admire your tenacity! 100 books a year? Amazing! Happy birthday and enjoy 65. #MLSTL
Thanks Yerri. I’m very exciting about this detour my blogging life has taken.
Happy birthday Jennifer and congratulations on your new blogging endeavor! A love for fitness and books–we have much in common! #MLSTL
We do seem to have much in common Christie. Hopefully you can find some reading inspiration on the new blog
Happy Birthday! And congratulations on the new bookish blog!
Thanks for your support Jennifer. And thanks again for visiting
Well done! That will keep you busy. I do love reading, but don’t seem to have time at the moment to do any! Will have to try harder.
Thanks for visiting. I’m sure you’ll get back to reading when life isn’t so hectic. Maybe I can inspire you with my Berle book blog
Congratulations on the way you are marking your 65th Birthday!
I hope that you get lots of interest and visitors.
It’s my 70th in late November and I have nothing planned to mark the occasion but I am enjoying feeling the most well I have in ages.
Denyse #MLSTL
Hi Denyse It’s great to hear that you are feeling so well. Actually I’ve been able to pick up on that in your social media posts. Thanks again for visiting
Hi Jennifer – first – HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! And second – Wow another blog! You are a braver woman than me (although I have a few ideas about starting another one to talk about the craziness that has gone on in my workplace for the last 3 years! – People would think it was fiction/Days of Our Lives!) I’m popping over to check out the new blog now.
Thanks for linking up to MLSTL and I’ve shared on my SM 🙂
Hi Leanne The antics in your workplace would probably be a great blog theme 😂 Hope I haven’t bitten off more than I can chew. But that seems to be the default position for me.
Visiting from #MLSTL. Congratulations of creating another blog space for a new interest. I hope you’ll link up some of your new blogs over here at #MLSTL! I am a reader, but I tend to keep to the same genre’s – mystery, romance and lately a bunch of “self-help”. I just started a new series (yeah, I do like series books) by Charlaine Harris. Picking up book 3 today to read (it’s cold and dreary here).
Hi Pat I will definitely linking up the book blog to MLSTL. I haven’t heard of that series but will check it out. Very very hot and dry here just now so cold and dreary sounds beautiful
Happy Birthday! 65! Well, I don’t know where the years go either, but look, we’re both using a computer and putting stuff on the internet – we can’t be doing too badly 🙂 And now you’ve got 2 blogs to manage – congratulations! I’ve got one at the moment, but the second one’s in the planning stage and will be live in a couple of months. All the best for your new venture – I’m going to pop over and visit it right now. Have a lovely day tomorrow. Visiting from MLSTL
Thanks for Birthday wishes Cheryl. I agree that we are doing ok. I just had a quick peek st your blog and loved what I saw. Will read it more thoroughly later today. Thanks for visiting
I hope you had a lovely day today on your birthday. Thank you for visiting my blog and for your kind words. I’m looking forward to reading more from your blogs. 🙂
Thanks Cheryl. Same here
Hi Jen, I hope you had a fabulous birthday and what a way to kick off another year than starting yet another blog! I admire you as I have enough trouble coping with one! I love reading and like you I lose count of the number of books I read each year – it is my escape. I’m looking forward to following your new blog and good luck! Thanks for sharing and linking up at #MLSTL and I’m sharing on my FB page and Twitter. xx
Hi Sue Im able to find time for another blog as Next Phase in Fitness doesn’t keep me as busy as Sizzling Towards 60 does you. Hope you can find some reading inspiration on the blog. Thanks for sharing.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
I started as a book blog in 2009 and then transitioned to a Midlife Blog last year. Reading is still a large part of my life, however, and I hope to begin book reviews again in the near future.
I look forward to following your bookish blog (and adding to my ever-growing To Be Read pile) 🙂
Thank you so much for your support Molly. I hadn’t realised you started as a book blog. Thanks again for visiting
Happy birthday for today Jennifer! What a great idea setting up a new blog, I’ll definitely pop over to visit as I love reading too. We’ve shared lots of comments on books over the years. All the best to you 🙂 #mlstl
Thanks so much for your support Deb. It means a lot.
Happy 65th Birthday!! What a wonderful way to celebrate a milestone, with something fun like your new blog.
Sharing for MLSTL
Thanks Trisha
Happy birthday & congrats on your new venture! I still don’t have a lot of time for extra reading, unfortunately.
It’s so important to be busy and active for as long as we can so we can keep ourselves as independent as possible!
Thankyou Marya. Reading will always be there when you have s not more time, I find my reading time tends to go in waves – lots of time or very little time.
Happy Birthday, and congratulations on starting a new blog. I’m a travel blogger, and I think being an avid reader makes me a better writer. I love romantic suspense, and romantic comedy novels. I also love a good family drama. I enjoyed your post and look forward to your book reviews.
Thanks Christina. Like you, I also love a family drama. Thanks for your support
