Time for a wrap up of the first four weeks on Maxine’s Challenge and what a month it has been. When I posted about my intentions for The Challenge, I had no idea what was ahead.
Unexpectedly for the past four weeks, since the challenge started, I’ve been working full time. To put the icing on the cake, my start time has been 6am, which means I have to leave home at 4.45am.
So I’ve had to say goodbye to my scheduled early morning workouts. Through necessity those workouts have been done in the late afternoon, which is a workout time that I really don’t enjoy. I’d much prefer to get out of bed and head immediately to the gym.
I’m very pleased to say that I haven’t missed any weights workouts on the program at all. But I feel quite disappointed to have missed a few cardio days. I prefer my cardio to be long distance walks or bike rides. These are quite time consuming at two hours plus so I’ve found it difficult to squeeze them all into my busy schedule.
For the next four week block on the Challenge, I plan to do shorter cardio workouts when time pressed. There’s always RPM or shorter but higher intensity workouts, that I can do which would only take an hour. I’m a bit disappointed in myself that I haven’t been doing this on the days when I was time pressed. But I think I became overwhelmed and didn’t give it enough thought.
The workouts for the first four weeks were general conditioning workouts. These are meant to get those muscles ready for the more intensive workouts to come. As we are now on Week 6, these workouts targeting particular body parts on different days have begun. I’m really looking forward to more of this type of intensive weight training.
I’m expecting life to get back into more of a routine from now on, so really looking forward to the next few weeks of Maxine’s Challenge where I hope to be able to get myself into a more doable routine.
How are your fitness goals progressing? I love your comments and promise to reply to all.
Hi Jen, don’t be disappointed in yourself. Life does get in the way but what you are doing is reassessing and finding ways to get around the blocks that get in your way. You are inspiring so be proud of what you are achieving and your positive attitude. Thanks for sharing at #MLSTL and have a great week. xx
Thanks for your supportive comments Sue. I’m expecting a bit of normality soon so next four weeks should be a little more organised,
Good on you for continuing at all Jennifer, some would have used that change in routine to just give up but not you!! Go easy on yourself 🙂 . #mlstl
