Trying To Stay Positive

October 20, 2016 By wpadmin 2 Comments

Unfortunately, the plaster hasn’t been removed yet. It was due to come off last week, but the x-ray showed the bone hadn’t mended properly, so they have given me an extra three weeks.

I was really looking forward to it coming off last week and had planned to do all the things that have been difficult for the past two months.

This sent me into a bit of a sad place for a few days, until I realised that wasn’t helping at all.

The main disappointment for me was that I was itching to get back on the bike and into the gym. I was feeling excited about it and couldn’t wait to start getting fit again.

My fitness level at the moment is the lowest it’s been in about 10 years, or maybe more. I’ve put on a few kilos, and feel really yukky about it.

I spoke to the Physio at the hospital about my need to get back on the bike quickly. She had no good news for me. It seems that it’s probably going to be a few more months before I can start riding again, due to the weight on the wrist in the cycling position.

Not good news there at all. So I have decided it’s time to get back to running. So far this week I have done three runs. Three very slow runs or truthfully run/walks. But it’s a start and I’m feeling no aches and pains at all so will be continuing.

I have weight to lose and fitness to gain so running it is. I’m also now looking forward to trail running again, which I’ve always loved.

My small goal for now is to run 5k non stop.
