Gymstick

I first came across the Gymstick about five years ago. Since then it’s become a regular part of my workout routine. A Gymstick is a fibreglass stick, measuring about 130cm, with rubber resistance bands connected to each end. It’s perfect for muscular endurance and flexibility training.  A very light strength training program can be done with it, or to increase the weight, the resistance band is wound around the handle. The more it is wound around, the heavier the gymstick becomes. I must say, I was quite hesitant on it’s effectiveness at first, but it really does work.

The Gymstick is a piece of equipment that I use occasionally, rather than regularly, but when I do ,I really enjoy the workout it provides. I usually introduce it when I’m looking for something different, to add variety to a workout. It’s a good idea to throw in something different ocassionally, to challenge the muscles a bit more than usual. If I’m  wanting to work a muscle group, that I don’t have the equipment for, I can usually perform that exercise or another with the same benefits, using the gymstick.

This is the perfect piece of equipment, if you are looking for a simple way of doing a workout at home, without the cost of multiple barbells and dumbells etc. It’s also great when travelling, as it folds down small enough to fit into a large suitcase and could easily be used in a hotel room. The workout below is a beginners workout and a great place to start, as simple to follow instructions are given on how to use the Gymstick.

Hmmm You possible could make one Sue. I’m hopeless at anything handy so wouldn’t even try. Let me know if you do create your own model

Resistance bands are great Natalie. The Gymstick works on the same principle but allows a little more variation. Thanks for visiting

This looks a fabulous addition to a home workout. You’ve inspired me to go and find one. I was thinking today about what simple weight exercises I could do for my arms after my daily walk. Maybe this is it! #MLSTL and shared on SM

I’ve never seen a gym stick before Jennifer. It looks like a great way to change things up a bit if you use resistance bands in your exercise regime.
MLSTL and I’ve shared on my SM 🙂

I have never seen this tool. It looks interesting and not too hard. I tend to resist new exercise equipment but I really shouldn’t because often, if I try it, I like it. I’m glad you found a new tool for health!

Michele you’re right this is a great tool for health. It can be made as easy or as hard as needed by turning up resistance

What an interesting device! I used to use resistance bands, but now we don’t have any doors that would work well with them. Gymstick would solve that problem.

That’s a shame you’ve had a breakage. Not sure how you would you would get a replacement. I’m fairly sure gym stick is no longer being manufactured
