Harcourt District Walk in Central Victoria

October 19, 2020 By nextphaseinfitness 16 Comments

As I’ve said many times we are in self isolation for the duration of Covid-19, on doctors advice, due to a medical issue. Even with regional Victoria reducing restrictions recently, and starting to open up, we are only venturing out occasionally. Mostly it’s just for a trip to the supermarket. We have been walking each day in the Bendigo National Park which is just outside our front gate. We feel this is ok, as we never see anyone on the trails. A few days ago, we decided to do something different and go on a bushwalk which is about 15k from our house. It was a walk that we hadn’t done before, but had been promising ourselves. Until now, it hadn’t happened, so today was the day.

This walk started at the Barker’s Creek reservoir and went around a few roads close to and through the area of Harcourt. Harcourt is considered to be the apple growing area of Victoria, with pink lady apples being a specialty. There is a park and two lovely cafes in Harcourt and that’s about it really.

Of course, Oscar came along for the fun. There would never be any thought of going for a walking adventure without my walking buddy. To add to the adventure we decided to take a picnic lunch. I made mini pizzas -= ‘healthy style’. We heated them up in our 4WD oven and boiled the billy for a cup of tea. All I can say, is that this simple meal tasted like a banquet after working up an apetite on our walk. Why is it that food always tastes betters outdoors?

Thankyou for reading my post. What have you been up to during the past week? I’d love to hear about it, and promise to reply to all comments.

Jennifer, This looks like a lovely walk by the reservoir and a hot meal and drink always taste so good after the walk. Thank you for joining me on this Wellness Weekend. #WW2020

Food ALWAYS taste better outdoors and there’s nothing like billy tea in the bush. Looks like a great spot.

What a lovely spot and the post-walk snack looks good as well!

It’s good you’re able to find places where you can easily socially distance and not have your health compromised. I’ve been very slack on the walking front and realise now winter here in Qld is such a great time to go as it’s about to get hot and steamy!

I agree Deb. Now is the time to get out there before the humidity arrives. Thanks for visiting again.

What fun Jen! Love this :). I’ve been enjoying getting out on our local rail trail and talking to lots of people I meet along the way.

I’ve been enjoying your lovely rail trail photos Deb. There’s something about a rail trail that causes people to be happy and friendly. Probably the feeling of safety

A family adventure isn’t a family adventure without the furry family members is it? I love that you have an oven in the 4WD! It must have been wonderful to be out in the great ideas especially after being stuck at home for so long!

That sounds like a fabulous place to explore. It’s so true that food really does taste better outdoors especially after working up an appetite.

That was such a great post. Becoming more adventurous but remaining safe is the way to manage COVID concerns I think. What a great idea for the day and lunch too!

Thank you for linking up for #lifethisweek. Next week’s optional prompt is 43/51 Inside 26.10.2020. Hope to see you there. Denyse.

So true that food prepared and eaten outdoors, especially after a hardy walk, is even more delicious. Those little pizzas look scrumptious. How nice that you can walk near a body of water. I live in El Paso where there is little water to be found!! Just a little jealous!

Didn’t realise you were in El Paso. I had to google it to see where in Texas it is. I’ve been to Texas but only went to Dallas. I would have loved to get about more but I was only there for a couple of days. Thanks for dropping by
