Maxine’s Challenge

January 28, 2018 By wpadmin 22 Comments

Just for a little extra motivation in the gym, I’ve joined Maxine’s Challenge.  Having previously participated, I know the benefits of their strength training programs, and look forward to another 12 weeks of Maxine’s.  This 12 week challenge has been around for five years now and I have watched it’s popularity and presence on social media steadily grow over the years.

The challenge is based on nutrition and exercise plans but it is not solely focused on weight loss. The aim is to become stronger and fitter by the end of the 12 weeks, and most participants do also wish to lose weight. Having seen some of the end results, I can confidently say that the nutrition program really does work, being based simply on healthy nutritious food.

From the website:
“Maxine’s Challenge is a 12 week on-line body transformation program that has helped thousands of people from around the country get in the best shape of their lives. If you’ve tried numerous ways to lose weight and get in shape without success – then Maxine’s Challenge is exactly what you need to get results”.

The training program consists of three blocks of 4 weeks. Each block is based around solid full body weight training sessions plus regular cardio sessions.

Those who are regular readers would know that I have a fabulous fully equipped home gym. I have all the equipment I need – both weights and cardio – for the challenge.

Challengers must follow an exact training program but can make their own choice for cardio. My plan is to use a mixture of outdoor cycling, walking, hiking, hill intervals, boxing and RPM and HIIT sessions in the gym.

Nutrition programs are also a part of this program.  I don’t expect to lose weight, however I do expect to reach my goal of becoming fitter and stronger by the end of 12 weeks.

This program will also combine well with my 150 Walks in Victoria goal, that is my main focus for 2018. The increased intensity of strength training will make my body stronger, which will be a great benefit when tackling some of the tougher hikes.

My goal for Maxine’s Challenge is to do every exercise session – both gym and cardio. My transformation will be to become a person who is completely consistent and who is her word

Thanks for dropping in Sue. I find challenges such as Maxine’s keep me motivated and enthusiastic, it can get a little soul-less in the gym alone. Albeit that I do love it.

What a woman! I am so impressed by your fitness goals and by the fact that you have a gym in your backyard! We have a bedroom set up as one but it wouldn’t come close to yours! Keep us posted on your progress.

Good luck Jennifer. I’ll be watching for updates. I’m taking the 8-week Orangetheory transformation challenge. I’m also looking for a fitness transformation more than weight loss, though I wouldn’t mind dropping a couple of pounds. I love meeting other women in my age group who are committed to health and fitness. Yeah for us!

Wow, that is quite a challenge, and you’ve got quite a setup right there in your backyard! I am looking forward to gleaning more information from you, Jennifer! To say this challenge intimidates me would be an understatement, but I am making smaller fitness challenges for myself. I’ve got to start somewhere, and if it takes baby steps, then that is what I’ll have to do. One day maybe I’ll be able to tackle something like this!

You’re right Wendy. Small steps at the start. I’ve been doing this for years so can handle the extra intensity. Thanks for visiting

Hello! Happy to meet another midlife blogger. you sound very ambitious and that training program sounds thorough. I swim regularly but have been thinking to add some strength training in. I wish I had a home gym, that sounds wonderful!

Thanks for visiting Michelle. When I was younger I swam every day. I’ve been thinking of getting back to it but not sure I’m brace enough to get into bathers now I’m older. Will check out your blog

    Good luck!

I joined a gym back in December to get some more movement in my life and build up my strength and fitness. I’m hoping to make gym visits a regular part of my week.
