It’s now 6 weeks since I fell in the mud and broke bones in my wrist, hand and lower arm. My knee was also injured but happily, not seriously, so it has recovered quickly.
The arm is another story, but there is only two weeks now until the plaster comes off. Hopefully!
After six weeks of very little exercise, I am unbearably unfit. This is the least fit that I’ve been for years, so when the plaster comes off, I’m very keen to get right back to my old fitness program of cycling, walking, and weights.
That is my wish! But I do know that my arm will be very weak for a while, eliminating cycling and weights.
What to do in the meantime?
Walking will be fine as it is now. I’ve been getting back into walking for two weeks so will continue.
I’ve decided to add in swimming at the indoor pool to replace cycling and weights, for the first few weeks. It should be excellent for strengthening my arm, and will hopefully get me back on the bike, and in the weights room quickly.
Feeling very impatient and anxious to start getting fit again. I have a few kilos to lose that have crept on during this period of little exercise, and my strength needs to be increased quickly.
Also, I’m thinking of trying rowing during summer. But more to come on that later. Stay tuned.
