Recovery Walk

August 21, 2019 By nextphaseinfitness 17 Comments

The past few weeks have been a bit tough as I’ve been unwell, with a virus,  and really bad cough. I’m still not recovered completely, but am now on the mend. Coinciding with this illness, work has been very busy and I’ve been starting at 6am. I didn’t have to take any sick days so I’m pleased that I was able to work through it, though I’m aware that this hasn’t aided my recovery time. During this time of illness, I have done no formal exercise at all, so along with not feeling well, I’m also feeling extremely unfit. I am getting back into my exercise program this week, albeit very slowly.

With this in mind, a few days ago I headed out onto the O’Keefe Rail Trail for a short and slow walk. There was nothing at all fast about this walk, but it was a rare sunny day so it was great to get out into the sunshine. Just to feel the suns rays on my face was exactly the medicine that I needed.

The Axedale section of The O’Keefe Rail Trail is one of my favourite walks and once again, it didn’t disappoint. I managed to walk 5 kilometres. This is such a tiny paltry amount compared to the distances that I have been walking, but it’s a start. Hopefully, very soon, I’ll be back to where I was before the illness.

Glad you are feeling better…I enjoyed your photos and was trying to figure out if that was a doodle in the one photo (we have two Goldendoodles). #MLSTL

The puppy is our two year old toy poodle Oscar, Donna. I must see if I can see photos of your Golden doodles on your blog

There’s nothing like a walk in the sunshine to make us feel better is there Jennifer? I’m battling my first Winter cold and feeling a bit flat atm. I’m keeping up my walking though so I feel better about that, but I definitely walk a bit slower when I’m feeling under the weather! Hope you’re back to full strength soon.
Thanks for linking up with us at MLSTL and I’ve shared on my SM 🙂

The Axedale section of The O’Keefe Rail Trail looks lie a lovely walk and a great one for your recuperation. I hope you feel totally better soon. As we get older it seems things do linger. I had what I thought was a cold recently, which put me to bed for a day, then to the doctor who prescribed antibiotics for a secondary infection. It wouldn’t have happened a few years ago as I would have bounced back! Take it easy. And recover soon 🙂

I agree Jo. This is the first time in years that I’ve been unwell.

Hi Jen, I’m pleased to hear you are on the mend and what a lovely way to spend the day with a Recovery Walk. It sounds so therapeutic and you certainly had very pretty surroundings to walk in. Who wouldn’t feel better after that? Thanks for sharing at #MLSTL and please take care. xx
