Say Hello To My Grandchildren

February 2, 2020 By nextphaseinfitness 14 Comments

One of my blogging goals for 2020 is to spread my blogging wings a little. I’m usually limited for time, so sharing my blog, and other blogs, tends to be limited also.

One  of the ways I plan to share my blog more than usual is to join up weekly with Denyse’s Linky #lifethisweek. The prompt for this week is ‘Time To Share Your Snaps’.

With the the prompt in mind, I feel it’s only right that I share a few photos of my grandchildren -Jake 12, Lucas 10, and Hudson 6. Unfortunately I’m a long distance Nanna, which doesn’t make me happy, but it does make every visit extra special. Only two words needed for these photos -Cute and Gorgeous. I’m sure you will agree.

First day at high school last week

Hi Jen, I’m glad you are spreading your wings with blogging and it is amazing what ideas start to flow when you open your thoughts to other content. Your grandsons are handsome, young men and I’m sure you are very proud of them. Thanks for sharing them with us. My daughter and son-in-law are very private people so I respect that they don’t want me posting my grandsons to social media. Isn’t it wonderful being a grandmother? I’m sure you feel it being so far away. I used to be 10 minutes from my grandsons and now I’m an hour and that seem so far but not as far as you. Have a great week, Jen. #lifethisweek

Hi Sue I can definitely respect the request not to have your grandchildren on SM. I only share them on the blog. With permission of course. I’ve been asked not to put them on FB. And I fully agree with that.

They’re gorgeous photos and kids. My mother and I face-timed with my brother and sister-in-law and 23yr old niece last night and commented later how much easier it is now to keep in touch. We remembered the weekly STD calls and letters to her mother (at the other end of the state) as we grew up.

Updates are so instant now. I think it’s a good thing. I think.

You’re right Deborah. The world is much smaller these days. I remember the times when my daughter was backpacking overseas in the 90s before internet and mobiles. It is so easy now

Hi Jennifer – gorgeous boys – and obviously well brought up – love that their dad is in a lot of the pictures too. Long distance grandparenting is tricky, but when we get to see them it’s always so special isn’t it?

Thanks Leanne. I probably should have said that their dad is my son. The long distance relationship takes work for sure

I never grew up with any extended family near me so it’s my norm – it’s weird when I hear eg of colleagues who have grandparents doing the school run for them.

Hi Vanessa I think long distance grand parenting is fairly normal these days.

So pleased to ‘see’ the family here and that you are expanding your blogging content. I had permission way back for using images of the grandkids but over time, for personal reasons, I stopped. More about respecting the adult children’s wishes.

However, in recent times, with 3 grandkids aged over 18 and permission now from the parents of the other children, I do this a little more.

I don’t use identifiers nor years on the photos so “hope” the privacy thing remains.

Anyway, I love that you got to do this. I don’t get to see mine as much as we did when we lived closer but I am glad I have those memories.

Thank you for linking up for Life This Week #174. Next week’s optional prompt is 6/51 Interesting 10.2.2020. Hope to see you again there too. Denyse.

They’re the cutest! The distance must be hard, but it looks like you manage to stay in touch. Enjoy your next visit when it comes around. 🙂
