I have decided to participate in a photo challenge called Sunday Stills, which I first saw on Deb’s World. I drool over Deb’s photo’s, so look forward to seeing her Sunday Stills post each week. I have no photo skills at all. For me, taking a photo is just a matter of pointing the iphone at a subject, clicking and hoping for the best. About a 18 months ago, I bought myself a new camera, with the intention of teaching myself to understand it, and to improve my photography skills. Unfortunately, the camera has sat on the shelf and hasn’t been used. I told myself it was because I was too busy at the time, but I think I was a bit scared of it. As I’m now in isolation due to Covid-19, and can’t go to work for the time being, I’ve decided that now is the perfect time to get the camera out and have a go. I’m hoping that participating in a weekly photo challenge could be the impetus I need to keep at it, and hopefully, improve my photography skills. Until then my photos will be those taken by an ordinary person with no skills at all.
Each week there will be a prompt and I will post my interpretation. The theme for this week Sunday Stills Photo Challenge is Orange. The host for this week is Hugh from Hugh’s Views & News.
Orange
This prompt had me stumped for a while. Orange doesn’t really feature much in my life. All I could think of was a bowl of oranges, which is a bit too predictable. I decided to take some time out to think about it, and sat down to get a few precious minutes reading. This is when I realised that the book I was reading was orange. Quickly checking my bookshelf, I realised that orange had a huge presence there. I don’t usually post about books here, as I have my book blog, Best Bookish Blog, to do that, but I’m making an exception this time.

I’m a huge Steven King fan. I’m only about one third of the way through this book, but really enjoying it

This set of penguin classics takes pride of place on my bookshelf. I’ve read each of these classics. My favourites would be Madame Bouvary and The Plague.

Fabulous collection of orange Jen! Isn’t it funny how it makes you think outside the box a bit. I’m so glad you’ve joined in and thanks for the shout out! Mine is an older post which I’ve updated https://debs-world.com/2018/10/28/the-gorgeous-colour-orange/
I’m enjoying the photo challenge Deb. Thanks for the inspiration.
Loved all your orange books Jen – a great take on the challenge and a thoughtful theme. That’s a LOT of orange books that you own!
It certainly is Leanne. I was very surprised that I had so many orange books
Love how you’ve interpreted orange – and always love a good bookstack.
I agree Jo. Thanks for popping in again
So clever Jen! It is surprising how many books have orange covers especially the penguin books. Great idea and like you I’m joining in the challenge but I’m not that great a photography. Orange is a colour that just brings joy to me. Have a great week and I’ll need to look at next week’s prompt to be prepared! #lifethisweek
Thanks Sue. I’ve been enjoying your photos
Well done finding orange from what you have! I read some of the books in your photos, too. #lifethisweek
Thanks Natalie
Very impressed with your ORANGE collection and that you have read all of those books. I have not. I am just not a classics fan…
I think about this challenge when I see you or Debbie’s post but then forget it. It is a good one!
Thank you for linking up for life this week. Next week’s optional prompt is 37/51 Remembering Sydney 2000. 14.9.2020 Hope you link up Denyse.
Thanks Denyse. Hope you have recovered well x
