Terri from Second Wind Leisure hosts #SundayStills, with a different prompt for each week. The prompt for the photo challenge this week is Fog and Clouds. I’m not a photographer in any way, but I thought I’d just give this challenge a go.
My photos for this week’s prompt Your Favourite Landscape were taken at Mt. Alexander, in Central Victoria, which is quite close to my house. Mount Alexander is just a short drive of about 20 minutes from where I live so I frequently walk in this area. In the 19th century this was a huge gold rush area and the remnants of that can be seen around the landscape. There are many outcrops of granite rock covering the area.
The mountain, though not huge at 744 metres above sea level is a popular local landmark. Weekends will see it used for cycling, buhshwalking, parachuting, abseiling and orienteering,
The walk forms part of the Goldfields Track, which begins in Bendigo. There are many walking tracks suiting all fitness levels from beginner to very advanced. These days, I usually walk on the flatter paths.
On one day about two years ago, I unintentionally found myself on one of the more advanced trails. By the time I realised that I’d taken a wrong turn, it was too late to turn back. I found myself on “goat track like” paths with a huge drop down the side. There were times I had to scramble over boulders that were in my way, and slide down collapsed paths. I found it quite stressful, but there was an amazing view at the top that made me forget about the drama and worry. These days I try to take it more quietly than this.

The Australian bush has a “look” all of its own doesn’t it Jen? It’s a bit grey at times, but when you look more closely you see all the little elements that make it beautiful.
I never tire of the Aussie landscape Leanne
Lovely landscapes there Jen, very similar to my area! happy birthday to you 🙂
Thank Deb, both for your comments and birthday wishes
